I am available on Tuesdays (9 – 5 pm) and Fridays (9 – 12 pm) for both online and in-person sessions.
Kia ora – Ko Nathanael Dei Gratia toko ingoa.
I’m a counsellor based in Porirua, working with clients across Wellington and online throughout New Zealand. I am a provisional member of NZAC.
My work is shaped by both professional training and lived experience, particularly in neurodiversity, identity, and navigating systems that don’t always fit.
Outside of counselling, I value creativity, community, and keeping life grounded in everyday routines. I enjoy building LEGO as a way to unwind and stay present, and I spend time with my whanau, playing board games and hanging with my dog, which helps me stay connected to calm, routine, and the simple parts of life.
I also believe strongly in community. People don’t heal or grow in isolation — it happens in connection, in relationships where we feel safe, seen, and understood. That sense of belonging is something I aim to bring into the counselling space.
In sessions, I offer a space that is warm, grounded, and real — where you don’t need to mask, perform, or have everything figured out before you arrive.
Counselling, for me, is about working together to make sense of what’s going on, find meaning, and create space for change in a way that feels right for you.
WHAT I CAN SUPPORT YOU WITH
People come to counselling for many different reasons.
You might be:
- Feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or burnt out
- Struggling with low mood or depression
- Carrying the impact of trauma or past experiences
- Finding it hard to manage emotions like anger or distress
- Feeling stuck, lost, or unsure of who you are
- Navigating relationships or conflict
- Parenting in ways that feel challenging or uncertain
- Making sense of life as a neurodivergent person (ADHD, autism, sensory overwhelm)
Or it may simply be a sense that something isn’t quite right.
Whatever brings you here, there is space for it.
HOW I WORK
Counselling is a space to slow things down.
A place where you can talk openly about what’s going on — your thoughts, feelings, and experiences — without needing to filter or explain yourself.
Together, we begin to make sense of things:
- Noticing patterns in how you think, feel, and respond
- Exploring what may be sitting underneath the surface
- Creating space for new understanding and change
There is no pressure to have everything figured out. We go at your pace.
This is not about fixing you — but about supporting you to understand yourself more fully.

HOW SESSION LENGTH WORKS
Before we begin regular sessions, we’ll have a short discovery call.
This is a relaxed conversation where we:
- Talk briefly about what’s bringing you to counselling
- Explore what kind of support you’re looking for
- Consider what pace and structure feels most supportive
- Decide together on session length
Session length is shaped around you — not a fixed expectation.
NEURODIVERGENT COUNSELLING
I have a particular interest in supporting neurodivergent people.
You might be:
- Feeling misunderstood or out of place
- Masking in ways that feel exhausting
- Experiencing burnout or sensory overwhelm
- Navigating systems that don’t feel designed for you
This is a space where you don’t need to mask or translate yourself.
We can work together to understand how your mind works and find ways of living that feel more sustainable and aligned.
PARENTING SUPPORT
Parenting can be deeply meaningful — and also challenging.
You may be:
- Trying to parent in a way that feels intentional and connected
- Supporting a neurodivergent child
- Feeling unsure, stretched, or overwhelmed
Counselling can offer space to reflect, make sense of what’s happening, and find approaches that feel right for you and your family.
SESSION LENGTHS & FEES
I offer two session options:
60-minute session — $120
Most people begin with 60-minute sessions. This allows space to slow down, explore things in depth, and settle into counselling.
30-minute session — $70
Some people — particularly neurodivergent clients or those who find longer sessions overwhelming — may prefer shorter 30-minute sessions. These can better support processing needs, energy levels, and focus.
We decide together during the discovery call what best fits you.
Please contact me either at nathanaeldeigratiava@gmail.com or on 027 6968638 for a free 30 Minute no – obligation conversation regarding your counselling needs.
Funding Options
I am a registered counsellor with I am hope, which currently provides funding for 2 free initial sessions for under 25 year olds.
I am also registered with Will to Live which provides counselling to those living in Rural Communities and can also provide EAP services through Clearhead and Givenwell.
I invoice after the session through HNRY. You must pay for the previous session before your next one. If you’re in difficulty around payment, let me know sooner rather than later and we can work something out!
